Colonic Preparation
Preparing for your colonic is very important and we encourage you to follow the guidelines in the days leading up to your appointment as best as possible to get the most out of your treatments.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! A well hydrated bowel means everything will soften up more easily & less time is needed to hydrate the colon before it starts releasing. Aim for 3L of water each day. However, please stop drinking water in the 1-2hrs before your treatment.
No food 2-3 hours before your treatment to allow the stomach to empty for a comfortable abdominal massage and release.
Avoid any high gaseous foods like wheat, sugar, beans, cruciferous vegetables, refined and processed foods and anything else that you know makes you gassy. Less gas = free flowing release.
Eat warming and water rich foods like broth, soup and steamed vegetables the day before your treatment.
Ditch the alcohol or caffeine at least 24 hours before your treatment.
Movement - walk, play, garden, swim, yoga - its all fabulous to do the day of your colonic (time permitting). It helps tone the colon as well as stimulate the lymphatic system.
Mindset - where possible, come at a time when you can be fully present and relax. The gut responds best when you are relaxed and the parasympathetic nervous system is predominant.
Timing - please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment time. This will allow you a few minutes to start to unwind and let go. No one wants to start a treatment feeling frazzled. You are treating yourself. You are taking care of yourself. Give yourself the time and space to appreciate the experience.
Trust - there may be times when the body does not release during a colonic, and that’s ok! This doesn’t mean the colonic hasn’t been beneficial or worthwhile. As with any healing modality, colonics take time. We honour your body’s needs on the day and let it guide the way. Trust the process and know that it is always working to support you.
After care
You can return to everyday life after your session. Including work and sport.
Our recommendation is to rest if it is possible. A colonic is a detoxifying treatment and activation of deep healing. Allowing your body some rest after a session (particularly if it's your first) can enhance your healing experience.
You may find you need to go to the toilet more frequently and your stool may be a little loose or you may find that you don’t need to go to the toilet for 24 hours. Everyone is different and both is ok.
You will receive personal recommendations along with a general handout in an email at the end of your session.
