When you arrive at Vitality Flow Colonics you will be welcomed and offered a seat to complete your initial consultation form (if you have not already completed online). Before beginning the treatment your practitioner will discuss with you your health history, personal wellness goals, explain the treatment and answer any questions you might have.
Once you are ready to start and with permission the practitioner will insert the speculum whilst you are lying on your side and then assist you to roll onto your back where you will stay for the remainder of the treatment. You are completely covered for privacy throughout.
Your practitioner will start the water and give you a gentle belly massage with essential oils to soothe and relax the colon muscles and then continue to facilitate gentle fills and release of filtered water into your colon. The waste released can be viewed and your practitioner will explain what it means.
At the end of the treatment you will roll onto your side again, the water will be turned off and the speculum gently removed. At this time you will go straight to the toilet and let gravity assist with any remaining release. Once you have finished on the toilet you will get dressed and your practitioner will discuss any recommendations and treatment plans with you. You will be offered a probiotic and electrolyte drink before leaving.
Cleansing the colon using colon hydrotherapy will not wash away all the beneficial bacteria since they are safely nestled in the mucosal lining of the gut. Some beneficial bacteria may be lost during a treatment and for this reason I do suggest you take a probiotic supplement or eat probiotic rich foods following on from your colonic treatments. Truth is though, most people’s colons are quite overburdened with bad bacteria. By cleansing the colon we promote the elimination of yeasts, parasites, and stubborn faecal material, which then promotes an environment where the microbiome can balance and thrive.
At Vitality Flow Colonics we use a is “closed” colonic system. Which means nothing is open to the air. All waste material flows down a tube, through the colonic device and into the sewerage line. There are no bad smells and no mess. All equipment is single use and disposable.
The clinic meets all NSW health standards and if fully council approved.
Yes. All of your release should take place during the treatment and on the toilet afterwards. You will continue to get a normal cue to go to the toilet if you need to after your colonic – its business as usual. You may need to urinate more often thanks to the additional hydration from your colonic session.
I do recommend that exercise is light following a colonic treatment as your body needs rest and replenishment after a deep cleanse.
No. A colonic treatment should not be painful. The most discomfort you will experience during the session is a mild cramping sensation, similar to what you may experience when having a bowel movement. Your practitioner will assist with this and guide you through any discomfort you may be feeling using breath and massage techniques.
It is rare that anyone experiences discomfort or fatigue after a session. However, a colonic may stir up many toxins and old debris that your body will need to eliminate, so occasionally clients may notice mild detox symptoms such as fatigue following their session. It is important to rest and drink plenty of water.
Immediately after the treatment you will be offered a natural electrolyte drink to alleviate any cramping that may come up (remember the colon has been activated during your session) and a probiotic to help replenish the colon’s good bacteria.
The most important thing to do for 24hrs before your session is hydrate by drinking plenty of purified water. This will help to hydrate the body, and help soften waste material in the large intestine. You can also start the cleansing process by eating lightly and increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables. Please refer to our pre colonic session information page for more details.
At the end of your session you will be provided with a post colonic information sheet.
AMAZING! You can expect to feel lighter, refreshed, relaxed and have a better sense of inner balance.
If you feel a little gurgly in the belly after your treatment I suggest herbal tea such as peppermint or ginger which will calm the digestive system and settle things quickly.
If you have been experiencing emotional stress you may feel fatigued after a colonic or even emotional. Rest and nurture yourself during this time. A bath with epsom salts or some light movement can be very beneficial.
Anything you like. I recommend something that can be removed from the waist down as you will remove this for the duration of the treatment and be covered with a towel whilst on the table.

Yes absolutely. Having a colonic whilst you are bleeding can be extremely beneficial as the body is already naturally detoxifying at this time and if you tend to get bloated around this time a colonic will help ease that feeling.
If you experience cramping or pain during your period, having a colonic in the week leading up to bleeding is very beneficial and will be more comfortable.
No. The slow and gentle introduction of water into the colon during a colonic helps to tone the bowel by stimulating the natural peristaltic muscle and helping to strengthen it. It’s essentially a ‘workout’ for your colon.
Your therapist will discuss recommendations with you and you will be emailed a post treatment information package.
However as a general rule, avoiding greasy, sugary, spicy and other heavy foods directly after a colonic is best. Drink lots of water and allow your body to rest if required. Alcohol should be avoided after a colonic.
